Then you have shows that the networks admit should not be viewed by younger audiences. Don’t get me wrong, I like most of these shows, however, they are not “family friendly” programs. Now we have shows like Two and Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Beverly Hills 90210, etc… Shows that are filled with nothing but sexual situations and other items that now child should be watching. Family friendly programs like The Cosby Show, Family Ties, ALF, Battlestar Galactica (the original or course), The A-Team, etc… are all gone today. It used to be that you could watch TV with your children up until at the very least 9:00 without having to worry about what the shows content was. Why are there no shows like this on TV anymore? A show that the entire family could watch together with no fear or you child being exposed to foul language, over sexuality, or other situations that are not fit for a young child should not be watching. I took this class so that it could rekindle that curiosity, and it seems to be right on track.Sitting here watching Buck Rogers in the 25th Century that Santa brought me for Christmas, I got to thinking. The Inner Machinations of my mind are an enigma. In a way, psychology is a science in disguise. We use the scientific method, independent and dependent variables, and of course my absolute favorite (not) statistics. This ranges from mental illness to simple issues. As i said before, im fascinated with the unknown, and through the eyes of a psychologist, i've been learning about the unknown things that human beings deal with in every day life. In a way, my major and interests reflect that. I have to admit, i've always been intrigued by the unknown. But even only by looking through the lens of this class from a 2 day perspective, i can tell that this class could quite possibly rekindle my fascination with science. For the longest time, science to me was the subject that I would make sure to find an excuse to get out of in grade school.My name is Niki Epps and I am currently a junior here at Penn State, double majoring in psych and criminology.I have been under the impression that i can't possibly comprehend scientific findings and notions just due to the way my brain works.
